What are the resources for the English Conversation courses?

The English Conversation classes are based on the Outcomes (National Geographic Learning) series and Speakout (Pearson) series. These books provide comprehensive coverage of all four core language skills and are available from beginner to advanced levels.

While all four skills are taught, thees books place a strong emphasis on speaking. Additionally, if you plan to take the IELTS exam in the future, they equip you with the essential language knowledge needed for success in the test.

Fluency takes time, but real progress starts immediately. From your very first class, you’ll be using English actively, building new vocabulary, and practicing everyday expressions. Our goal is to help you gain the confidence to communicate clearly and comfortably in real situations.

Conversation Courses

Level A

Level A1 is sufficient for very basic interactions, for example, as a tourist in an English-speaking country. However, it is not adequate for academic or most professional purposes.

Level A2 is enough for tourism in an English-speaking country and for socializing with English speakers. However, it is not sufficient for forming deeper friendships. At this level, you can also network with English-speaking colleagues, but work-related communication will be limited to very familiar topics.

A1

Structure: 60 hours (3 terms × 20 sessions) aligned to CEFR A1 standards.
Description: Focuses on building essential communication skills for everyday life. Students learn basic grammar, high-frequency vocabulary, and practise listening and speaking in familiar situations. They begin to read short texts and write simple sentences.
Main Coursebook: Speakout Starter (Pearson), Oxford Word Skills – Basic, Real Listening & Speaking 1 (Cambridge).
Extra Notes: Highly interactive, with role-plays and visual aids to boost confidence. Suitable for learners starting English for the first time.

A2

Structure: 60 hours (3 terms × 20 sessions) aligned to CEFR A2 standards.
Description: Expands vocabulary and grammar for everyday contexts. Students develop the ability to understand short spoken and written texts, give basic descriptions, and handle predictable social and work situations.
Main Coursebook: Speakout Elementary (Pearson), Oxford Word Skills – Basic, Real Listening & Speaking 1–2 (Cambridge).
Extra Notes: Includes practical English for travel, shopping, and personal communication, with increased focus on connected speech.

Level B

Level B1 is sufficient for interacting with English speakers on familiar topics. In the workplace, individuals at B1 can read simple reports on familiar subjects and write basic emails related to their field. However, B1 is not enough for fully effective performance at work in English.

Level B2 enables you to work in English, and in fact, many non-native English speakers in international work environments operate at this level. However, someone at B2 — especially outside their own field — may lack certain nuances and may miss some subtleties or implied meanings in conversations.

B1

Intermediate Level

Structure: 70 hours (3 terms × ~23–24 sessions) aligned to CEFR B1 standards.
Description: Builds independence in English, enabling learners to handle most everyday situations and workplace conversations. Students improve comprehension of longer texts, write connected paragraphs, and discuss familiar topics with confidence.
Main Coursebook: Outcomes Intermediate (National Geographic Learning), Oxford Word Skills – Intermediate, Real Listening & Speaking 2 (Cambridge).
Extra Notes: Includes project work, presentations, and role-plays to strengthen real-world communication skills.

B2

Upper-Intermediate Level

Structure: 80 hours (3 terms × ~26–27 sessions) aligned to CEFR B2 standards.
Description: Enables confident, fluent communication with native and non-native speakers. Students learn to discuss abstract ideas, produce well-structured arguments, and understand complex reading and listening materials.
Main Coursebook: Outcomes Upper-Intermediate (National Geographic Learning), Oxford Word Skills – Upper-Intermediate, Real Listening & Speaking 3 (Cambridge).
Extra Notes: Strong focus on debate, critical thinking, and professional communication, preparing learners for academic and workplace success.

Level C

Level C1 allows you to work on a wide range of topics in the workplace or in an academic environment. At this level, you can operate with full independence in an English-speaking country.

Level C2 is essentially native-level proficiency. It enables you to read and write on any topic, express emotions and opinions with nuance, and participate fully in any academic or professional setting.

C1

Advanced Level

Structure: 90 hours (3 terms × 30 sessions) aligned to CEFR C1 standards.
Description: Refines mastery of English for academic, professional, and social contexts. Students learn to interpret subtle meanings, adapt register for different audiences, and write/speak with precision and style.
Main Coursebook: Outcomes Advanced (National Geographic Learning), Oxford Word Skills – Advanced, Real Listening & Speaking 4 (Cambridge).
Extra Notes: Includes analysis of academic texts, high-level presentations, and training in persuasive and diplomatic communication.

C2

Proficiency Level

Structure: 100 hours (3 terms × 33–34 sessions) aligned to CEFR C2 standards.
Description: Develops near-native fluency for high-stakes professional, academic, or diplomatic use. Focus on nuance, idiomatic expression, and mastery of tone in both speech and writing.
Main Coursebook: Outcomes Advanced (National Geographic Learning, C2-adapted), Oxford Word Skills – Advanced, Real Listening & Speaking 4 (Cambridge).
Extra Notes: Ideal for professional negotiations, advanced research, and public speaking at the highest level of proficiency.
